Acteon’s subsidiary 2H Offshore has completed the installation of a conductor-supported facility wellhead platform offshore Sarawak, Malaysia.

2H said on Tuesday that the company was responsible for the concept, detailed design, transportation and installation of a platform on the D28 oilfield Phase 1 project for OceanMight on behalf of Petronas Carigali.

The design has a lightweight substructure that is supported by the conductors and a lightweight topside that was installed after drilling and completion. Both components were installed using a jack-up drilling rig, which offered substantial time and cost savings.

According to the company, this is the first platform of its kind to be installed using a jack-up drilling rig for Petronas in Malaysia.

2H added that the project execution and completion were achieved within seven months of the project award.

Shreenaath Natarajan , 2H Offshore director and project manager, said: “This project demonstrates once again that 2H Offshore’s unique, holistic concept-to-installation approach to minimum facility platforms offers significant value to operators.

“Collaborating with a local offshore facilities construction yard and using a jack-up drilling rig for installation provided significant cost savings in a challenging climate.”

This project marks the fourth successful conductor-supported platform installation using a jack-up rig in Malaysian waters by 2H Offshore’s Kuala Lumpur office. Work on five further wellhead platforms is currently in progress.

To remind, OceanMight was awarded a contract by Petronas Carigali in April 2018 for an engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of wellhead platforms for D18 Phases 1 and 2.
