Phoenix International (Australia) has selected Total Marine Technology (TMT) as a subcontractor in the submarine rescue service (SRS) contract for The Royal Australian Navy.
The Submarine Rescue Service contract will be delivered on a four-year acquisition schedule, where TMT has been selected to design and fabricate a remotely operated vehicle (ROV).
Furthermore, TMT will design and supply the external propulsion and electrical systems for the Remotely Operated Rescue Vehicle as well as the Submarine Rescue Bell.
The submarine rescue service project is expected to create over 55 jobs, with the acquisition phase of the system valued at $255 million with Australian industry content at approximately 80 per cent.

The project is comprised of several well-established entities working together to provide a world class, bespoke system to the Royal Australian Navy. TMT is keen to apply its knowledge and capability in defence, gained from 20 years in the oil and gas sector .”
The rescue system will be accepted into operational service in 2022 and will be just one of four air transportable systems in the world.
The work will be carried out in TMT’s Bibra Lake facilities, located just South of Perth.
