Cairn Energy’s Norwegian subsidiary Capricorn Norge has hired CHC for the provision of helicopter services for its upcoming drilling operations in the Norwegian Sea.
CHC will provide a Sikorsky S-92 helicopter in support of Capricorn’s operations at the Lynghaug and Godalen offshore prospects. The wells will be drilled using the Transocean Arctic semi-submersible drilling rig.
The Lynghaug prospect , Capricorn’s first operated well in Norway, is located in PL758 in the Norwegian Sea, six km South-East of the Norne field in the Nordland II area. Godalen is located in license PL842, and will be Capricorn’s second operated well in Norway. It is expected to spud in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Commenting on the helicopter contract award Helge Nesvåg , CHC Sales Director for EMEA said there would be up to four flights per week from CHC’s base in Brønnøysund using a Sikorsky S-92A.
