DEME Group’s new DP3 offshore installation vessel Orion has been outfitted with a helideck.

Orion was launched at the COSCO Qidong shipyard in China in November last year, while the 216.5m long vessel is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2019.

The vessel will be deployed for the construction of the largest offshore wind farms, servicing the oil and gas industry and decommissioning of offshore installations.

It will feature a Liebherr HLC 295000 crane with a lifting capacity of 5,000t and will be able to take the heaviest monopiles, jackets, wind turbine components and structures in a single shipment.

Orion will have the capacity to accommodate a crew of up to 131 people and will be powered by a dual-fuel engine capable of burning liquefied natural gas (LNG).
