The Japanese New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) has shared videos showing the construction and installation of the two-bladed Hibiki floating wind turbine.

The Aerodyn SCD 3MW turbine, installed on Ideol’s Damping Pool floating foundation, was towed from the Kitakyushu Port to the installation site some 15km off Kitakyushu City on 29 August 2018.

Hibiki, set to be operational until 2021, is part of a project dedicated to developing floating technology suitable for water depths of 50m or more.

The project consortium is led by NEDO and includes Marubeni, Hitachi Zosen, Glocal, Eco Power, Tokyo University, and Kyuden Mirai Energy.
