Jan De Nul has been awarded the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of both foundations and subsea cables for the Formosa 2 Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) in Taiwan.
Developed by Macquarie Capital and Swancor Renewable Energy Company, the 376MW Formosa 2 OWF will have 47 Siemens 8MW turbines on jacket foundations in up to 55 meters water depth.
Formosa 2 OWF is the third Taiwanese OWF contract for Jan De Nul Group and will have more than three times the capacity of the Changhua OWF and the Formosa 1 Phase 2 OWF.
Under this contract Jan De Nul Group will be responsible for the foundation design, fabrication and installation, as well as for the design, supply and installation of the subsea cables.
Construction works are planned to start in 2020 and the wind farm is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2021.
