Subsea services provider Oceaneering International has been awarded a contract by Anadarko for the provision of umbilicals, distribution hardware, and aftermarket services to the Area 1 Mozambique LNG project.
Oceaneering said on Tuesday that the multiple lengths of onshore and subsea steel tube control umbilicals total approximately 185 kilometers in length.
The distribution hardware to be provided includes umbilical termination assemblies, hydraulic and chemical distribution units, electrical distribution units, flying leads, junction plates, ROV flyable large-bore connectors, and aftermarket services in support of installation.
Manufacture of the umbilicals and distribution hardware is scheduled to occur at the Oceaneering facilities in Panama City, Florida, and Houston and is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2019 and be completed in the third quarter of 2021.
The deal for Oceaneering follows Anadarko reaching the final investment decision on Area 1 Mozambique LNG project on June 18.
The Anadarko-led Area 1 Mozambique LNG project will be Mozambique’s first onshore LNG development, initially consisting of two LNG trains with a total nameplate capacity of 12.88 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to support the development of the Golfinho/Atum fields located entirely within Offshore Area 1.
The project has secured in aggregate 11.1 mtpa of long-term LNG sales with LNG buyers in Asia and Europe.
