Dutch offshore services provider OOS International has joined forces with compatriot demolition company Sagro.
OOS International said on Thursday that the new Netherlands-based joint-venture would be named Sargoos.
According to the company, OOS International will generate a continuous supply of steel to the Sagroos yard by executing offshore removal and pick-up service of steel offshore structures.
On the other hand, its partner Sagro will take care of the total dismantling, scrapping, and recycling of steel structures. All activities will take place in a newly built yard in the Port of Vlissingen.
As each platform, ship or other offshore structure reaches the end of its lifetime, it necessitates decommissioning and all work must be done with as little environmental impact as possible, OOS noted.
Under the conditions of the new joint venture, Sagroos will fully take care of the complete disposal within the decommissioning process including the offshore pick-up service.
Sagro CEO Raoul de Jonge said: “We look forward to work together with OOS on their upcoming decommissioning projects, as Sagro and OOS complement each other’s activities.
“We have followed the fast-growing reputation of OOS closely and are very confident about the cooperation with [OOS International managing director] Leon Overdulve.”
