Norwegian oil major Equinor has awarded a contract to offshore vessel provider Eidesvik for one of its platform supply vessels (PSVs).
Eidesvik said on Tuesday that the contract was awarded to the Viking Queen platform supplier.
According to the company, the firm contract period is for six months and will start in direct continuation of the current contract, which expires at the end of August 2019.
To remind, Equinor initially hired the Viking Queen in April 2019 along with Havila Shipping’s Havila Clipper.
Contracts for both vessels were firm for four months with further options in the charterers favor, scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2019.
As for the vessel itself, the Viking Queen platform supply vessel is of a VS 493 AVANT LNG design built in 2008 by Westcon Yard in Ølensvåg, Norway.
It is worth mentioning that Equinor also hired Eidesvik’s Viking Avant vessel on a long-term deal earlier this month .
The vessel, of identical design as the Viking Queen, was hired for three years and will begin work under the contract in direct continuation of the current deal at the end of the year.
