The price of spot liquefied natural gas contracted in Japan edged up slightly during the month of June with the arriving LNG prices showing a significant jump.
Data from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) shows the contract-based price bumped up to $5.5 per mmBtu, a 1.85 percent increase from the May price.
Compared to June 2018 when the price was at $9.3 per mmBtu this represents a 40.9 percent drop.
The arrival-based prices jumped 41.5 percent from May to June. The price jumped from $5.3 per mmBtu to $7.5 per mmBtu during the month under review.

Only spot LNG cargoes are taken into account in this assessment, excluding short, medium and long-term contract cargoes, as well as those linked to a particular price index.
