Woodside’s environment plan for WA-34-L Pyxis drilling and subsea installation is now under assessment with NOPSEMA, Australia’s offshore regulator.
Woodside submitted the plan to the regulator on July 12 and the plan is now being assessed. The company proposes to develop and produce hydrocarbons from the Pyxis field, and further develop the Pluto and the Xena fields in Permit Area WA-34-L.
Woodside is planning to undertake drilling, construction, installation and pre-commissioning activities in Production License WA-34-L in Commonwealth waters to support ongoing production for Pluto LNG, starting in 1Q 2020 with the drilling of the Pyxis well (PYA01) and Pluto well (PL-PYA02) and related subsea installation pending approvals, vessel availability, and weather constraints.
Two new and two infill production wells are proposed, as well as the installation of subsea structures, to complement production from existing wells in the Pluto and Xena fields.
If required, Woodside will also need to intervene or workover existing Pluto and Xena production wells within existing Pluto and Xena production wells within Production License WA-34-L.
The proposed activities are located in Production License WA-34-L, with the closest landfall being the Montebello Islands, approximately 50 km to the south east.
