SEA-TITAN, a European Commission H2020 Programme funded project, will hold a workshop during ETWEC 2019, in Napoli, Italy on September 04, 2019.
The project is aimed at making a step change in the wave energy sector by designing, building, testing and validating a crosscutting and innovative Direct Drive Power Take-Off solution to be used with multiple types of wave energy converter.
The objective is to develop an optimized crosscutting power takeoff with application to multiple systems through collaboration with multiple wave energy developers and industrial partners with a strong track record on technology.
Aleix Arenas , project manager of Sea-Titan said: “One of the biggest challenges wave energy is facing is the apparent lack of consensus between different technologies at different levels: moorings, control systems, energy capture strategies or PTO typology. In SEA-TITAN we have the clear objective for designing and testing a new crosscutting PTO usable by all of the wave energy technologies that want to take advantage of it. Thus, we are working with renowned international experts in the sector: technology developers, industry, research laboratories and standardization organism. The SEA-TITAN consortium brings together 11 partners from 7 European countries: Belgium, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and UK. It gathers eight companies, WEDGE, CORPOWER, CENTIPOD, HYDROCAP, OCEM, COLUMBUS, ENGIE, EDP CNET, and three non-profit organizations with focus on applied research and development, the CIEMAT, WAVEC and UNE.
