Vroon’s walk-to-work vessel VOS Start has arrived at IJmuiden, the Netherlands, after completing a two-year charter for MHI Vestas.

VOS Start began work for MHI Vestas in August 2017 at the Walney Extension wind farm in the Irish Sea, after which it supported the commissioning phase of the Borkum Riffgrund 2 project in Germany last spring.

Most recently, MHI Vestas chartered the vessel at the Burbo Bank and Walney offshore wind farms after it had carried out walk-to-work operations for Total.

In the coming days, VOS Start will be demobilized, with the removal of temporary living quarters and containers that were specific requirements for recent work.

The 80m long VOS Start, purpose-built to support offshore operations in the renewable energy industry, is fitted with a 50t active heave compensated crane and is capable of accommodating up to 60 client personnel.

Its next charter is scheduled for October, Vroon said.
