Imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) into China have increased in June compared to the corresponding month last year.
China, the world’s second-largest importer of the chilled fuel, reported a 14.9 percent rise in imports during the month under review.
Data from the Chinese General Administration of Customs shows that a total of 4.53 million tonnes of LNG were imported during the month, which compares to 3.97 million tonnes of LNG in June 2018.
Data shows the imports edged 2.2 percent up when compared to May when 4.43 million tonnes of the chilled fuel were imported into China.
During the first six months of the year, China imported a total of 28.37 million tonnes of LNG, 9.7 percent above 23.81 million tonnes imported during the corresponding period last year.
In terms of value, June 2019 imports hit $2 billion with the six-month imports value reaching $14.32 billion, the data shows.
