UK-based shipowner and operator Scotline Marine Holdings has ordered its third coaster vessel from the Dutch Royal Bodewes shipyard.
The 4,785 dwt Bodewes Trader-type ship is expected to start construction in early 2020, according to the shipbuilder.
Named Scot Ranger, the newbuilding is a follow-on vessel to the November 2018-delivered Scot Carrier , and the Scot Explorer, which started construction in February 2019.
Scot Ranger will be able to operate in first-year ice in the Baltic Sea, calling Finnish or Swedish ports, and will feature an enclosed bridge wing with a Caterpillar/Mak 6M25C main engine, as noted by Royal Bodewes.
To feature a length of almost 90 meters, the newbuild is set to become the tenth vessel in Scotline’s owned fleet. It would replace the previous Scot Ranger, a 1997-built coaster which was sold in January 2019. The company is scheduled to receive Scot Explorer, its ninth unit, shortly after launch in October 2019.
