The second newbuild of Norwegian offshore supply vessel provider Golden Energy Offshore has begun its first contract in the North Sea.

Golden Energy said on Wednesday that its second newbuilding, the Energy Duchess platform supply vessel, arrived in Aberdeen on July 30, 2019.

According to the company, the Energy Duchess is fixed to a North Sea Major for its first job which began on July 31.

Its sister vessel – the Energy Empress – has been working with Aker BP since its arrival in the North Sea. The contract with Aker BP was initially signed for a firm period of up to 60 days.

It is worth reminding that the naming ceremony for the two vessels was held in late June and the Energy Empress headed for its first assignment on July 1, 2019.

Golden Energy took the delivery of the Energy Empress on May 13, 2019, and the delivery of the Energy Duchess took place on Monday, May 27.

The platform supply vessels have been designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions and are based on Ulstein’s PX121 design. Both vessels were built at the Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipments Co. yard in China.
