India’s National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) has launched a tender seeking the turnkey supply of four offshore LiDARs for two sites.

The contract covers the supply, delivery, testing and validation, training, transportation, installation and commissioning of two LiDARs in Gujarat and two in Tamil Nadu.

The selected company will be in charge of providing three years of onsite comprehensive warranty, operation & maintenance, as well as pre-installation calibration per industry standards, including boat hiring charges.

According to NIWE, the offshore LiDAR system should be capable of measuring wind speed at minimum 10 discrete heights up to 200m from mean sea level.

Additionally, all required accessories for LiDAR operations and suitable power supply should be provided.

The deadline for submitting applications is 27 August at 03:30 p.m. local time.

To remind, India’s Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has set the target of having 5GW of offshore wind capacity by 2022 and as much as 30GW by 2030.

An expression of interest for the country’s inaugural offshore wind farm near Gujarat, issued in April last year, attracted 35 responses from both domestic and international companies and consortia.
