The price of spot liquefied natural gas contracted and imported into Japan during the month of June increased.
Data from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) shows the contract-based price bumped up to $5.5 per mmBtu, a 1.9 percent increase from the May price.
However, compared to June 2018 when the price was at $9.3 per mmBtu this represents a 40.9 percent drop.
The arrival-based prices has shown a higher increase jumping 51.5 percent from May to June. The price rose from $5.3 per mmBtu in May to $7.5 per mmBtu during the month under review.
Compared to June 2018, the price declined 15.7 percent from $8.9 per mmBtu.
Only spot LNG cargoes are taken into account in this assessment, excluding short, medium and long-term contract cargoes, as well as those linked to a particular price index.
