Production at Decipher Energy’s Orlando oil field in the North Sea has yet to reach its full potential.
Decipher brought the UK North Sea field online on March 29, 2019 , through the Ninian offshore platform. The Orlando field started producing some thirty years after the original discovery was made by Chevron in 1988/89.
The oil company at the time said that the well would be able to deliver peak production rates of over 10,000 barrels of oil per day. This, however, has yet to be achieved.
“The reservoir is capable of producing over 10,000 bopd, however, as a result of issues with the upper completion, peak rates have been restricted to around 5,000 bopd. Decipher is reviewing whether a workover may be required to deliver the planned peak production rates from the field,” Decipher said Friday.
According to Decipher, the Orlando estimated 2P recoverable reserves remain unchanged at c. 10 MMbbls.
Decipher also said it was continuing to mature the potential high-value Senna and Mansell discoveries nearby.
