Parkwind has awarded COWI with a contract to design the foundations for the turbines and offshore substation of the Arcadis Ost 1 offshore wind farm in Germany.

COWI’s Hamburg office is in charge of the geotechnical design, loads calculations, primary and secondary steel design, limit state verification, and all activities pertaining to the approval of the design.

According to Arcadis Ost 1 Project Manager Clément Helbig de Balzac, this milestone is one of several coming this fall.

“The Arcadis Ost 1 project is without doubt amongst the most interesting offshore wind projects in the Baltic region for the time being, and we are very pleased to be onboard Parkwind’s team,” said Michael Sienko , COWI’s Business Development Director for Offshore Wind.

“With a growing office in Hamburg, I am confident that we can provide smooth and effective foundation designs in close cooperation with Parkwind.”

Arcadis Ost 1 is located approximately 19km northeast of the island Rügen in the German Baltic Sea, within the 12-nautical mile zone in the federal state Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Parkwind is the major shareholder in the 247MW offshore wind farm.
