U.S. LNG equipment maker Chart Industries has been awarded a contract by LGM Engineering to supply four LNG fuel tanks.
Chart said that the four tanks would be used for marine fuel gas systems that would power two 22,000 dwt chemical tankers fueled by liquefied natural gas.
Each of the 300-cbm capacity cryogenic tanks comprises double stainless-steel shells with vacuum and perlite insulation.
The tanks will be designed and manufactured at Chart’s Changzhou facility and classified by DNV GL in accordance with associated regulations.
The ships will be built in Wuhu Shipyard, China, and are owned by Rederi AB Donsötank from Sweden.
The two 167.7-meter-long vessels will be ice-strengthened to ice class 1A, have shore connection for port operations, and prepared for 1,000 kWh battery pack.
Each vessel will have a Wärtsilä 10V31 DF main engine and two Wärtsilä 8L20 auxiliary engines and will be delivered in 2021.
