Danish renewable energy company Ørsted has secured volumes of liquefied natural gas through a deal with the UK-based BP.

According to an emailed statement, BP will deliver 0.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas from its portfolio to Ørsted on an annual basis.

It is a five-year delivery agreement which will begin from late 2020, and the LNG will be delivered to North West Europe and Iberia, the statement reads.

The agreement complements Ørsted’s portfolio and increases utilization of the regasification position at Gate terminal in Rotterdam.

Ørsted is capacity holder at the Gate terminal and has 3 billion m3 of import capacity at its disposal per year.
