Offshore lifting and accommodation solutions provider Jack-Up Barge has teamed up with Saipem to support the construction of FLNG offloading and berthing facilities for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim field offshore Mauritania and Senegal.

Jack-Up Barge was awarded a contract by Saipem to supply the JB117 jack-up barge to support the piling operations for the installation of the berthing and loading facilities for ‘an international oil company.’

Although Jack-Up Barge did not disclose the name of the company, it is worth noting that the operator of the Greater Tortue project is the British oil major BP.

Eiffage secured a deal in consortium with the Italian contractor Saipem to perform the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the hub/terminal in March .

Saipem’s scope focusses on the engineering, procurement, and installation of berthing and loading facilities.

As for the barge, the JB117 will see a number of modifications, including additional crane capacity, installation of dynamic positioning, and an outrigger.

It is worth reminding that BP reached the final investment decision for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim field in December of last year .

Also, KBR was awarded a pre-FEED services contract for phases 2 and 3 of BP’s Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project while FLNG topside solutions provider Black & Veatch received a full notice to begin work on the Golar’s Gimi FLNG , set to be used on the project.
