The six-month-long Ettalong Channel dredging program has been successfully completed, according to the Member for Terrigal Mr Adam Crouch.

As reported, around 30,000 cubic meters of sand has been removed during the works.

This has created a 30 meter wide, 2.5 meter deep channel for recreational and commercial vessels to safely use.

The dredging works took place in three locations upstream of Half Tide Rocks, adjacent Lobster Beach, to intercept a sand shoal encroaching on the channel, and adjacent Little Box Head.

Mr Adam Crouch also reported that 10,000 cubic meters of sand has been placed on Ocean Beach to protect it from coastal erosion.

The work was funded through the NSW Liberal Government’s “Rescuing Our Waterways” program and there’s still $1.45 million available for Council to do more dredging if required.
