Seaway 7 has awarded Tekmar Energy with a contract to provide cable protection systems (CPSs) for wpd’s 640MW Yunlin offshore wind farm in Taiwan.

Under the contract, Tekmar will be supplying 150 of their patented CPSs which protect the subsea power cables as they transition from the offshore structures into burial.

The Yunlin offshore wind farm is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2021, using 80 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines.

Russell Edmondson , Managing Director of Tekmar Energy said: “The contract award on the Yunlin project continues our relationship with Seaway 7 following successful completion on the Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm in Scotland and our recent award on the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Farm.”

The contract is one of Tekmar’s largest non-EU projects to date.

Jonathan Linton , Package Manager at Seaway 7 said: “The success of the offshore industry relies on performance, innovation and collaboration to deliver successful projects. We are especially proud of the Yunlin project and looking forward to working with Tekmar Energy who are delivering a key part of this excellent project.”
