Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has secured a contract by Yunneng Wind Power to provide scour protection for the turbine foundations at the Yunlin offshore wind project in Taiwan.

The contract will see Boskalis installing rock on the seabed around 71 monopile foundations serving as scour protection.

In total 325,000t of rock sourced from local quarries in Taiwan will be installed using a fallpipe vessel. The project is scheduled to commence in early 2020 and is expected to be completed in late 2020

The Yunlin offshore wind farm will feature 80 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines installed some 8km offshore and scheduled to come online in 2021.

Steelwind will manufacture and deliver 40 complete monopiles for the 640MW project, as well as manufacture and supply 120 monopile segments to Formosa Heavy Industries (FHI) Corporation which will fabricate an additional 40 monopiles from those sections.
