Spot liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices imported and contracted in Japan during the month of December edged up over the previous month.

Data from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) shows the contract-based price in December was at $6.4 per mmBtu.

In comparison, METI did not report a contract-based price for November 2019 due to the lack of reported contracts.

The arrival-based price for the month of December was $6.7 per mmBtu, up from $5.5 per mmBtu in the previous month.

To remind, contract-based spot LNG delivery price in December 2018 was reported at $9.2 per mmBtu, while the arrival-based price was at $10.6 per mmBtu.

Only spot LNG cargoes are taken into account in this assessment, excluding short, medium and long-term contract cargoes, as well as those linked to a particular price index.
