ProCon Wind Energy and EEW Special Pipe Constructions have started the electrical construction of two transition pieces for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project.
According to ProCon, the construction kicked off on 2 December, and so far the fitting of the internal E-modules has been completed.
The completion of the rest of the transition pieces is expected to take place in the end of the month.
“We are delighted to have entered into yet another agreement with EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH as it has opened the door to the US offshore wind market for ProCon,” Claus Søgaard Poulsen , ProCon CEO.
“We will ensure quality electrical solutions to the Coastal Virginia Offshore Project as well as other US projects in the future.”
The 12MW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project is being built by Dominion Energy and Ørsted 27 miles of the coast of Virginia.
The project is expected to provide the operational, weather, and environmental experience needed for large-scale development in Dominion Energy’s adjacent 112,800ha lease site, which has the capacity to generate up to 2.6GW of offshore wind if fully developed.
CVOW’s two Siemens Gamesa 6MW turbines will be installed this spring and are scheduled to come online later this year.
