Following numerous delays, and over a year and a half after its inauguration, Mundra LNG terminal project in India’s Gujarat state could be commissioned this week.
Citing government officials, Times of India reports the facility is set to receive a commissioning cargo on Wednesday, January 22. Gujarat State Petroleum Corp (GSPC) has reportedly snapped up a cargo from Qatargas.
AIS data provided by VesselsValue shows that a Q-Flex LNG carrier Murwab, capable of transporting 210,174 cubic meters of the chilled fuel, has loaded a cargo at the Ras Laffan LNG complex on January 16 and is heading to Mundra.
The vessel is currently sailing off Karachi, Pakistan and is scheduled to dock at the Mundra facility on January 22.
The facility has been developed by the Adani Group and Gujarat State Petroleum Corp and has the capacity to handle 5 million tons of LNG per year.
The facility consists of two LNG storage tanks of 160,000 cubic meters each and LNG jetty capable of receiving the LNG vessels of sizes ranging from 75,000 to 260,000 cubic meters.
The terminal also has a facility for LNG truck loading.
