MAN Energy Solutions noted that during testing completed by Hyundai’s Engine Machinery Division (HHI-EMD) MAN B&W 11G90ME-GI dual-fuel engine ran at 100 percent load in gas mode.
HHI-EMD completed the test for the first of six ME-GI engines bound for a series of container ships for Singapore-based, Eastern Pacific Shipping, MAN Energy Solutions said in its statement.
The six units scheduled for delivery between 2020-2022, with Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) to construct each of the neo-Panamax boxships.
Commenting on the milestone, Anil Singh , CEO at Eastern Pacific Shipping, said, “The success of the shop test reinforces our decision, and we look forward to the addition of this environmentally-friendly tonnage to our diverse fleet.”
MAN Energy Solutions reports that it has over 200 ME-GI units on its order books or already in service.
