Dunkerque LNG the operator of France’s Dunkirk liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal has put up capacity at the Dunkirk LNG terminal up for sale through a call for market interest.
The company noted in its statement that it has placed up to 3.5 Bcma of regasification capacity on a long-term basis starting from January 2021 up for booking.
European LNG imports have witnessed a strong increase in 2019 driven by the oversupplied status of the global LNG market which is expected to persist in the coming years, the operator said.
In this context, Dunkerque LNG has been solicited by market players expressing their interest to subscribe to regasification capacities for the long term in the Northwest European (NWE) market.
As a response, the operator has put up the currently available capacity at its terminal on offer.
The Dunkirk LNG terminal has an annual regasification capacity of 13 billion cubic meters of natural gas, or about 20 percent of France and Belgium’s gas demand.
The qualification phase has started and will be closed on February 28, the company said.
