PSG wins contract for Scottish floating wind farm

PSG Marine & Logistics has secured a staging contract by Boskalis Subsea for the Kincardine floating offshore wind project in Scotland.

Work began at Port of Cromarty Firth, where PSG is undertaking the onshore handling, marshaling and loadout of mooring equipment destined for the project off the coast of Aberdeen.

“This new award is to be our first floating wind contract, and we are keen to use this opportunity to showcase PSG’s capabilities within this developing sector,” said Steve Clark , Managing Director of PSG.

“The recent news of the Crown Estate Scotland launching the 10GW ScotWind offshore wind leasing round, the first in Scottish waters for a decade has been well documented. PSG are investing heavily in our operations, equipment and our workforce to ensure we are fully prepared to play a key role in developing these once in a generation contracts from Port of the Cromarty Firth.”

Kincardine will comprise six MHI Vestas turbines, one 2 MW which was commissioned in October 2018, and five 9.6 MW units, installed on semi-submersible floating structures designed by Principle Power.

The 50 MW project is expected to be fully operational by the fourth quarter of 2020, becoming the largest floating wind farm in the world.
