Fred. Olsen Renewables (FORAS) and Hafslund Eco have entered into an agreement to collaborate for the offshore wind sector in Norway.

FORAS and Hafslund Eco plan to jointly submit a pre-application for the development of offshore wind projects at the Sørlige Nordsjø and Utsira Nord areas.

According to the parties, the 50:50 agreement will see the companies cooperating on transmission concepts in Norway, as well.

This summer, Norway announced the opening of the Sørlige Nordsjø II and Utsira Nord areas for offshore wind development. The applications are expected to launch on 1 January 2021.

Utsira Nord is a 1,010km2 area located to the west of Haugesund. It is suited for floating wind power, is close to shore and provides opportunities for demonstration and larger projects.

Sørlige Nordsjø II borders the Danish sector in the North Sea, it takes up 2,591km2, and has depths which makes it possible to develop bottom-fixed projects, but floating foundations could also be relevant.
