Pert-Bruce Construction has secured a contract with SSE Renewables to carry out works on the O&M base for the Seagreen offshore wind project.
The base at Montrose Port will include an operations building, a repurposed warehouse, a communications tower, and a pontoon for crew transfer vessels traveling to the wind farm site 27km off the Angus coast.
Work at the port’s South Quay is expected to start this week. It is scheduled to take around a year and all will be carried out by Pert-Bruce and several local subcontractors.
The operations building was previously used by an oil industry supply chain company in Aberdeen and will now be regenerated.

SSE Renewables selected Montrose Port in October last year as the home for Seagreen’s O&M base.
The 1,075 MW wind farm will feature up to 114 MHI Vestas V164-10 MW turbines. First power is expected by the end of 2021, with commercial operation scheduled for 2022/23.
