Offshore support vessel provider Vroon has delivered the hybrid accommodation vessel MWV Falgout to end client Brunei Shell Petroleum.
Vroon Offshore Services Singapore secured a two-year ship management contract for the vessel at the end of 2020.
The company said that the early months of the project involved taking delivery of MWV Falgout in China, mobilizing the vessel and delivering it on to the end client.
The 80-meter vessel is a new purchase for Bruneian owners JISCO Marine and will be employed on a long-term charter for Shell’s Bruneian subsidiary for offshore reliability maintenance duties. The ship was officially accepted into charter on 17 February.
Vroon added that the process of delivery was complicated by Covid-19 regulations, travel restrictions, and the monsoon season. The ABS-classed vessel eventually left the Chinese shipyard on the first day of the new year.
A further month was spent in Miri, Malaysia, ensuring the vessel was ready for its first project. Multiple audits and trials were conducted, with subsequent dynamic positioning modifications, failure mode and effective analysis trials, and activity-specific operating guidelines verification undertaken.

As for the vessel, the MWV Falgout is registered under the Bruneian flag and will be one of the first hybrid vessels working in Brunei waters. It is equipped with a 70MT crane and can accommodate up to 200 men onboard.
In recent company news, Vroon was awarded charter contracts for platform supply vessels by Eni for operations offshore Mozambique.
Namely, Vroon won charters for the VOS Princess and sister vessel VOS Principle which will support the Saipem 12000 drillship during Eni’s long-term drilling campaign in the country.
