CWind Taiwan is set to return to Formosa 1 offshore wind farm this spring to deliver Inspection, Maintenance and Repair services.

The company will deploy its technician team and a crew transfer vessel (CTV) to carry out the work on 22 of the Taiwanese wind farm’s turbines.

Formosa 1 started commercial operation on 27 December 2019. The 128 MW wind farm consists of the 8 MW Formosa 1 Phase 1, inaugurated in May 2017, and the 120 MW Formosa 1 Phase 2 which was commissioned in November 2019.

The offshore wind farm comprises two Siemens Gamesa 4 MW turbines from the first phase and 20 Siemens Gamesa 6 MW turbines that were installed within the second phase of the project.

CWind Taiwan was signed a balance of plant (BOP) contract with Formosa 1 Wind Power Co. ltd (FOWI) for the offshore wind farm in autumn last year, under which it is performing inspection and maintenance on the 22 turbines, including internal and external inspections and painting.

The company started executing the contract in September 2020, when it first deployed its Taiwan-flagged CTV Ocean Surveyor 3 and its in-house technicians.
