Operations, maintenance, and asset integrity contractor Bilfinger Salamis UK has secured a three-year global support deal to provide offshore execution services to Altera Infrastructure.
Bilfinger Salamis said on Tuesday that the execution services for Altera Infrastructure, previously known as Teekay Offshore , include inspection and enactment services.
The company did not state the exact amount size of the deal but did describe it as a multi-million-pound contract. This comes on the back of a successful period of growth for Bilfinger’s inspection department, with the company on track to double its inspection revenue by 2023.
Under the new agreement will see Bilfinger extend its existing service delivery with Altera Infrastructure, providing a range of conventional and advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) services on assets operated by Altera in the UK.

Bilfinger Salamis UK has experience working with Altera Infrastructure, having worked with the company since 2014, providing maintenance and environmental services on the Petrojarl I, Foinaven, Petrojarl Banff, Voyageur Spirit, and Hummingbird Spirit FPSOs.
Services include surface preparation and coating application, insulation and cladding, fireproofing, scaffolding and access provision, vessel and tank cleaning, rope access, and environmental services.
“ Over the last two years, we have made a significant investment in training, equipment and development of our services to be able to offer a holistic inspection delivery. Based on recent awards and the acceleration of our strategy, we will be recruiting several positions in the coming months to support this growth ”, Hall added.
In recent related news, Altera took delivery of its latest LNG-fuelled shuttle tanker – the Altera Wind . That was the sixth and last vessel in the series built by South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries yard.
