U.S. LNG export project developer Cheniere Energy has commissioned the third liquefaction train at its Corpus Christi LNG plant in Texas.
The company said on Monday the project reached substantial completion of Train 3 on March 26.
With the commissioning complete the EPC partner Bechtel turned over care, custody and control of Train 3 to Cheniere.
Cheniere and Bechtel have now declared substantial completion on a total of eight liquefaction trains at the Corpus Christi liquefaction project and the Sabine Pass liquefaction project ahead of each train’s guaranteed completion date and within project budgets.
To remind, the first commissioning cargo from the third liquefaction train at the Corpus Christi facility was loaded in December last year.
With Train 3 now commissioned, the Corpus Christi plant located near Corpus Christi in Texas reached its total production capacity of approximately 15 mtpa of LNG.
Cheniere is also developing an expansion adjacent to the Corpus Christi project for up to seven midscale Trains with an expected total production capacity of approximately 10 mtpa of LNG, dubbed Corpus Christi Stage 3 project.
The company expects to commence construction of the Corpus Christi Stage 3 project upon, among other things, entering into an engineering, procurement, and construction contract and additional commercial agreements, and obtaining adequate financing.
