Höegh LNG’s floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Höegh Giant has set off on its journey from Singapore to India.
The vessel will serve H-Energy’s LNG import terminal at Jaigarh port under a 10-year charter deal .
Höegh Giant underwent minor modifications at the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore following its deployment as an LNG carrier for Naturgy.
Höegh Giant will be the first FSRU operating in India and will deliver natural gas to the 56 km Jaigarh-Dabhol pipeline connecting the LNG import terminal to the national gas grid and will also deliver LNG for onshore distribution through LNG truck loading facilities, as well as reloading LNG onto small-scale LNG vessels for downstream distribution or LNG bunker services.
The vessel has a storage capacity of 170,000 cubic meters of LNG. It also has a peak regasification capacity of 6 mtpa, and will serve the project’s firs phase.
H-Energy plans to develop an 8 mtpa land-based project in the second phase.
