Chevron inks LNG supply deal with Hokkaido Gas

U.S. energy giant Chevron said it has signed an LNG supply deal with Japan’s utility Hokkaido Gas.

Chevron said on Wednesday it has signed the binding sales and purchase agreement through its unit, Chevron U.S.A (Singapore Branch).

The LNG volumes will be delivered from Chevron’s global LNG portfolio to the Hokkaido area.

Under the agreement, CUSA will supply Hokkaido Gas with about a half million tons of LNG over a period of five years starting April 2022.

John Kuehn , president of Chevron Global Gas, a division of CUSA, noted that the agreement with Hokkaido Gas broadens Chevron’s customer base in Japan, a foundational market for Chevron’s LNG business.

The city gas supplier Hokkaido Gas unloads LNG volumes at the Ishikari LNG import terminal on Hokkaido, Japan’s second largest island.
