South Korean shipbuilding major Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co. (KSOE) started the week with a new order for two very large crude carriers (VLCCs).

On 19 April, KSOE said in a stock exchange filing that it won a KRW 207.9 billion (about $187 million) deal to build the tanker pair.

The contract also includes an option for one identical vessel, Yonhap News Agency reported.

The ships will be built for an undisclosed European shipping company by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI), part of KSOE.

The latest order comes only a few days after KSOE secured a contract to construct three liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers and two deals for a total of five liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers.
