Engineering and services group Bilfinger has been hired by oil major Total for inspection services on its assets offshore Denmark.
Bilfinger said on Monday that the contract was awarded by Total E&P Denmark. The €40 million ($48.65 million) contract will be booked under Bilfinger’s Engineering & Maintenance Europe segment.
According to the company, the deal will begin in July 2021 and run for five years with two one-year extension options.
Bilfinger added that it would provide a comprehensive range of services for Total in Denmark using its advanced non-destructive testing (ANDT) techniques. The contract will be managed from Bilfinger’s office in Esbjerg.
Duncan Hall , chief operating officer of Bilfinger, said: “ With this major contract from Total, Bilfinger continues on its growth path in the strategic business area of inspection services. Our skilled team contributes to ensuring the integrity of Total E&P Denmark’s assets.
“ The award follows two recent contract successes in Denmark, making Bilfinger one of the largest local providers of offshore non-destructive testing inspection services just three years after the set-up of our local branch ”.
In March 2021, Bilfinger Salamis UK was awarded a multi-million-pound inspection contract by Altera Infrastructure Production .
The three-year agreement sees Bilfinger extend its existing service delivery with Altera Infrastructure, providing a range of conventional and advanced non-destructive testing (ANDT) services on assets operated by Altera in the UK.
Bilfinger Salamis UK has previously worked with Altera, having worked with the company since 2014, providing maintenance and environmental services on the Petrojarl I, Foinaven, Petrojarl Banff, Voyageur Spirit, and Hummingbird Spirit FPSOs.
At the time, the company stated that the recent period was highly successful for Bilfinger’s inspection department and that it expects to double its inspection revenue by 2023.
Recently, Bilfinger has also won a five-year inspection contract for corrosion under insulation (CUI) at a major chemical plant in the Netherlands.
