In this energy talk, Richard Brakenhoff, Independent Analyst discussed the progress of energy transition, the plans for 2050 and future scenarios.
Brakenhoff discussed the drivers of the energy market in the following 30 years up until 2050. He presented several energy transition scenarios published by relevant institutions, such as the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
He also spoke about the huge investment requirements to make the energy transition successful.
“Total energy consumption has to go down. Around 50 % has to be electricity by 2050”, argued Brakenhoff. He added that a lot of countries have to go net-zero but 2050, and they have to do it quickly before it’s too late.
