Safety and operational performance training provider in the oil and gas, maritime, and wind industries, Maersk Training, has appointed a new chief executive officer (CEO) in a push to expand its footprint in offshore energy and maritime markets.
Maersk Training announced the appointment of David Skov as its new CEO on Wednesday. The new appointment comes at a time when the company is targeting further growth in the global offshore energy and maritime markets.
David Skov, Maersk Training’s new CEO, commented: “Having recently worked with the team at Maersk Training in my previous role, I know the high level of knowledge and experience that is here within the company. Maersk Training has built its strong position in the industry, and it is my ambition to expand this reach and expertise in the key regions around the world.”
Skov, who holds several business degrees, including a Master of Business Administration from the University of Warwick in the UK, has been with A.P. Moller – Maersk since 1995, where he joined the Maersk International Shipping Education programme and has since served in various senior leadership roles with mainly Maersk Line and APM Terminals.
Furthermore, before joining Maersk, Skov spent several years with the Danish Army as a reserve officer and has worked and lived in Denmark, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, The Netherlands, Hong Kong and Dubai over the years. He is replacing Johan Uggla , who served as Maersk Training’s CEO for four years. Skov has vast experience in leading and developing people as well as managing business in complex and challenging environments.
“The energy transition is seeing an emergence of new technologies that require new competencies. As a partner to our customers, we will be there to provide the highest level of service to fit their needs,” added Skov.
To remind, anticipating the energy transition, the company launched the first half of its refurbished Aberdeen safety and survival centre in March this year to meet the industry needs of the future. As part of its strategy to expand its global footprint, Maersk Training UK announced in September 2021, the launching of its key ‘industry skills’ programme of training onshore for the first time to support offshore and maritime operations.
Regardless of mobilisation issues and patterns, the firm expects that by bringing its product line onshore, it will ensure support of its customers’ training needs with their normal operations across the oil and gas, wind, and maritime industry.
In addition, Maersk Training secured a contract a few days ago to provide its complete training management services (TMS) for Boskalis Subsea Services.
