Samsung Heavy picks GTT tank design for new LNG carrier

South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has ordered a tank design from the French LNG containment specialist GTT for a new LNG carrier.

As part of this order, GTT will design the tanks of the new LNG carrier. The vessel in question is to offer a capacity of 180,000 cubic metres.

SHI is building the vessel for an undisclosed shipowner.

The LNGC tanks will specifically feature the GTT Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

The shipyard will deliver the vessel during the second quarter of 2024.

Just last week, SHI has also ordered the same tank design for two new LNG carriers.
