French ship-owning company France LNG Shipping has signed a long-term charter deal for a new LNG carrier with EDF LNG Shipping, a subsidiary of Electricité de France.
France LNG Shipping is jointly owned by Japanese shipping major NYK Line and France’s Geogas LNG. Now it signed the long-term charter agreement with Electricité de France (EDF), or, specifically, its subsidiary for LNG transportation, for the new LNGC.
This new vessel will have 174,000-cubic metres LNG capacity. Its construction will take place at the South Korean shipyard Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.
The vessel will feature WinGD-manufactured, dual-fuel slow-speed diesel engines propulsion.
It will also incorporate Air Liquide’s Turbo-Brayto n refrigeration system that can tap surplus boil-off gas. Made by GTT, the membrane-type tank will comprise advanced insulating materials that reduce the vaporization rate. To remind, the GTT’s Mark III membrane system is a cryogenic liner that stores LNG at near atmospheric pressure.
HSHI will deliver the new LNG carrier in 2025.
