Sparrows Group, a provider of engineering and maintenance services to the oil and gas, renewables, industrial and mining sectors, has secured a long-term contract for offshore crane operations and maintenance in Angola with an undisclosed company.
Sparrows informed on Wednesday that it was awarded a three-year contract to provide crane operations and maintenance services offshore Luanda, Angola.

As per the terms of the agreement, the deal covers ten pedestal cranes and six line and rescue craft boats across the field’s four assets. The UK-headquartered specialist has been carrying out these operations since 2005.
Based on the new deal, the firm will now continue to manage the operation, inspection, load testing, structural repairs, major and general maintenance of the cranes. In addition, it will keep managing the delivery of highly skilled crane operators, technicians, and core specialists.
Furthermore, Sparrows will be responsible for project management, troubleshooting, equipment changeouts and technical engineering support, while all refurbishment and repair work scopes will be undertaken at its facility in Luanda.
“We’ve worked in Africa for over three decades and the region continues to be an integral part of our global growth strategy. So much so that we invested in a new workshop, office space and training facilities in 2020 which has allowed us to continue delivering in-country equipment repairs and refurbishments for our customers as well as providing local skills development,” explained Mitchell.
When it comes to Sparrows’ other recent deals, it is worth noting that the company inked a contract in February 2022 for the provision of crane operations and maintenance services on one of Serica Energy ’s platforms in the UK North Sea.
