Korean shipyard Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) has ordered the fuel tank design of a new LNG carrier from French LNG containment specialist GTT.

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries is building this new LNG carrier (LNGC) on behalf of an Asian ship owner. The ship will have a total LNG tank capacity of 174,000 cbm.

GTT will design the tanks of this new LNGC which will feature the membrane containment system Mark III Flex .

The shipyard will deliver the vessel in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Last month, Korean shipbuilder Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE) revealed it won a $910 million order to construct four new LNG carriers. Specifically, it said its units Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries will each build two 174,000 cbm ships.

These vessels are under an order from an undisclosed Asian shipowner.
