FueLNG, a joint venture between Keppel O&M and Shell Singapore Pte. Ltd., has named its newest LNG bunker vessel.
The newest addition to FueLNG’s fleet was named FueLNG Venosa at a ceremony held on 21 April at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan, South Korea.
Chartered from Korea Line LNG , the LNG bunker vessel has a total capacity of 18,000 cbm and is expected to bring significant economies of scale.
As described, the vessel is designed to facilitate safe and quick turnaround of vessels carrying out simultaneous cargo handling and bunkering operations; and is capable of bunkering different types of LNG fuel tanks.
Besides bunkering operations, FueLNG Venosa will provide gas-up and cool-down services to LNG carriers and LNG-fueled vessels after dry docking in Singapore or en route to loading operations, FueLNG said.
The naming of the FueLNG Venosa is said to mark another significant step in FueLNG’s efforts to promote the use of LNG as a marine fuel and contribute to a more sustainable future for the shipping industry.
Aw Kah Peng , Chairman of Shell Companies in Singapore, who is the godmother of the vessel, said: “The FueLNG Venosa will support a growing number of LNG-fueled ships that call at the Singapore port, contributing to the country’s ambition of becoming a regional hub for LNG bunkering.
