Baker Hughes’ weekly rig count report shows that the number of offshore rigs in the United States slipped down another notch last week while the total number of rigs operating in the U.S. plummeted to 711 from 720 units recorded during the week before.
Following the fall in the offshore rig activity for units working in the U.S., Baker Hughes revealed on Friday, 26 May 2023, that the number of these rigs went down further last week, falling to 20 units. In addition, offshore rigs were up by 4 units on a year-over-year basis.
Furthermore, Baker Hughes’ report points out that the total number of active drilling rigs – including onshore and offshore ones – in the United States decreased by 9 units last week, sliding down to 711 , which is lower by 16 rigs than last year’s count of 727 with oil rigs slipping down by 4 units, gas rigs going down by 14 units, and miscellaneous rigs rising up by 2 units.
When compared to the figures from the week before, oil rigs in the U.S. fell down by 5 units to 570 last week while gas rigs slid down by 4 units to 137 and miscellaneous rigs kept the status quo at 4 units.
On the other hand, the total number of active rigs in Canada climbed up by 2 units, reaching 87 rigs , with oil rigs jumping up by 3 units to 42 while gas rigs slipped down by 1 unit to 45.
Moreover, the company’s report underlines that the total number of rigs in Canada decreased by 16 units from last year’s count of 103 rigs. While oil rigs were down by 13 units last week compared to the year before, gas rigs lost 3 units.
